Digitizing Subscription Management
Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR
Submission Deadline: 25 March, 2025 11:59:00 PM
With the rapid growth of digital services, many users now juggle multiple subscriptions—ranging from streaming platforms and news outlets to software tools and cloud services. While these subscriptions add convenience, they also bring challenges in managing recurring expenses. Users often lose track of renewal dates or the cumulative cost, which can lead to unwanted charges or financial inefficiencies.
In your most creative imagination of an ideal world: How would you build an outstanding product that addresses this problem?
Submit a 10 slide deck (upload a PDF version) outlining your understanding of the problem and detailing the solution.
Focus on the following:
Understand the current state of the market you have chosen. Do the relevant secondary research, competitor research and UX audits to understand the current situation better.
Identify the target user segment and understand the target users’ unmet needs.
Validate the problem with user research
Structured analysis of the problem, break down the problem into smaller components.
Showcase how you ideated possible solutions and decided on the proposed solution. Justify your design choices in a detailed manner.
Detail orientation in the solution being proposed, including the choice of UI elements and the design system.
Learnings and next steps in iterating on the designs. Please be detailed here.
IMPORTANT
Please note that we (and the hiring managers) want to understand how you approach design. So instead of just adhering to a “template”, focus on highlighting the following:
A deep understanding of the true problem
Your design thought process – how you approached the problem
Your design iterations and how you justify your design choices.
Your 10-slide project deck should include the following aspects:
Title Slide
Understanding the user and the landscape: This can include
The type of research you conducted (including competitor analysis and design critiques)
Assumptions that you made going into the research
How your assumptions changed after conducting research
Mapping the user journey
Creating user personas
Insights you gathered about user pain points and how these guide your designs moving forward
Problem statement definition
Starting the design process
Paper wireframes/digital wireframes
Low-fidelity prototypes
Usability test findings and how these help you in refining your design thought process
User Experience Design (UXD) & UI (include snapshot and link to Figma files)
Information & interaction design
Visual explorations
Parameters on which you choose the best solution and why
Explain the solution with design annotations
How and what design decisions you made and why
Working Prototype
Add a snapshot of your Working Prototype along with the link to the Figma file (please make sure the link is accessible for everyone)
How have you tested the working prototype? What feedback have you received from your users?
Moving forward
What are the potential pitfalls of your solution?
How can you mitigate these risks?
What might the next iteration of the designs consider?
Guidelines for the deck:
Name of the Fellow should NOT be present anywhere in the slide deck
10 slides max (including the title slide)
Font size: make it readable for the evaluator. Create a deck and not a document.
Each Slide title should state the key message of the slide for easier reading. For example: don’t write “Problem” as the slide title, state the problem succinctly in the slide title.
If you are using a background colour for the slides, please ensure the text is readable.
When using colours, keep in mind the reader may be colour blind. So, choose colours carefully.
Link supporting artefacts (eg. survey URLs, wireframe URLs, Figma Files etc) via a hyperlink. Please ensure the reader has access to the documents.
Maximum file size should be less than 40 MB
Best Practices
Step into your audience's shoes: Remember, you have to step into the shoes of the hiring manager of the company that you’ve chosen. The purpose of this deck is to help convince internal stakeholders in the larger team (your audience) about your proposed problem and solution. Feel free to include any additional information, data points or arguments that might help convince them.
Tell a story: The above components have been provided to give you direction and help make your deck more comprehensive (detailed). To make it comprehensible, you’ll need a strong narrative to tie it all together. That’s what matters at the end.
