E-Commerce Category Manager

I am looking for a skilled E-Commerce Category Manager to help me organize and manage a product category for my online store.

Type of products:
- We sell physical agricultural products, so experience with managing physical product categories is essential.


- We currently do not have an existing categorization in place and need to create a new one
- The ideal candidate should have experience in

1. Product Categorization and Organization:
• Create and maintain a logical and user-friendly categorization system for products on the e-commerce website.
• Organize products into relevant categories and subcategories to facilitate easy navigation for customers.
2. Merchandising:
• Determine which products to feature prominently on the website, taking into account seasonality, sales goals, and customer preferences.
• Implement strategies for cross-selling and upselling related products within categories.
3. Content Management:
• Ensure that product listings within categories have accurate and compelling content, including product descriptions, images, and videos.
• Optimize content for search engines (SEO) to improve visibility in search results.
4. Inventory Management:
• Monitor product availability and inventory levels within categories.
• Collaborate with inventory and procurement teams to maintain appropriate stock levels.
5. Pricing Strategy:
• Collaborate with pricing teams to establish competitive pricing strategies within each category.
• Implement pricing promotions and discounts as needed.
6. Market Research:
• Stay updated on market trends, customer preferences, and competitors within each product category.
• Use market insights to make data-driven decisions about product selection and category improvements.
7. Customer Experience Enhancement:
• Continuously assess the user experience within each category, making adjustments to improve navigation, filtering options, and overall usability.
• Gather and analyze customer feedback to make informed category enhancements.
8. Sales Analysis:
• Track category-specific sales performance, including revenue, conversion rates, and average order values.
• Use analytics tools to identify trends and opportunities for growth within categories.
9. Supplier and Vendor Relationships:
• Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source new products and negotiate terms.
• Ensure that supplier relationships are beneficial to the company’s goals and category strategies.
10. Promotions and Campaigns:
• Plan and execute category-specific marketing campaigns and promotions to drive traffic and sales.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to create targeted marketing materials.
11. Performance Metrics:
• Define KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for each product category and regularly report on the performance against these metrics.
• Use data to identify areas for improvement and growth.
12. Compliance and Regulations:
• Ensure that products within each category comply with relevant industry regulations and standards.
13. Product Lifecycle Management:
• Monitor the lifecycle of products within categories, including product introductions, updates, and discontinuations.
14. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Collaborate with various departments, including marketing, sales, procurement, and customer service, to align category strategies with overall business objectives.
15. Innovation and Adaptation:
• Stay abreast of e-commerce industry trends and technology advancements, implementing innovative strategies to enhance category performance.




Number of product categories:
- We anticipate having more than 20 product categories, so the candidate should be able to handle a large volume of products and categories.

Skills and experience required:
- Previous experience as an E-Commerce Category Manager or similar role.
- Strong understanding of product categorization and organization.
- Experience with creating new categorization systems.
- Ability to handle a large volume of products and categories.
- Attention to detail and the ability to organize products in a logical and user-friendly manner.
