Unreal Engine 2D Fighter Prototype

Job ID: 40102101

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I’m building a fast-paced 2D fighting game in Unreal Engine 5 that captures the flashy air juggles of Dragon Ball FighterZ while keeping the more grounded, footsie-driven feel of Guilty Gear. Gameplay must run on a 2.5D setup—3D characters locked to a 2D plane—and support both online and local multiplayer from day one.

Core mechanics I need implemented in this first playable beta:
• Six-button layout with beginner-friendly auto-combo chains
• Super-jump, air dashes, launchers, and full aerial combo routes
• Parry window, burst-style combo breaker, throws that pop the opponent into new combo states
• Wall-bounce and ground-bounce logic for extended strings
• Input scheme inspired by DBFZ while preserving room for advanced custom strings

I’ll supply reference clips and design notes; you’ll handle prototype-quality animations (they can be rough placeholders), hitbox setup, menu flow, and rollback-ready netcode so testers can stress the online play.

Deliverables for this milestone:
1. Playable UE5 build (PC) featuring two proof-of-concept characters, a training stage, and full mechanic list above
2. Basic UI: main menu, character select, pause/options
3. Functional online lobby plus local versus mode
4. Animation and VFX placeholder pack, organized for later polish
5. Clean, commented project files so my team can iterate after the test phase

If you have prior experience with fighting-game networking, custom Blueprint/C++ combat frameworks, or integrating rollback libraries, let me know—the smoother the online feel, the better the feedback we’ll get from our testers. I’m ready to start immediately and will be available daily for quick design decisions and playtest sessions.
