Upgrade Unity Real-Time River Shader
Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR
Advanced River Water Shader Enhancement (Unity – URP)
I am currently developing a real-time river water shader in Unity (URP) and have already implemented the majority of core features, including:
Surface ripples and wave's motion
Foam generation
Reflections and surface highlights
Directional flow using animated UVs / noise
At this stage, I am seeking focused assistance to push the shader to a higher level of realism, specifically in the areas of large-scale wave behavior and flood-like water motion.
Key Areas Where Assistance Is Needed
1. Advanced Wave Behavior
More natural, layered wave motion instead of uniform sine/noise waves
Combination of small ripples + medium waves + large directional waves
Better control over wave height, wavelength, and speed
Waves that visually respond to flow direction and river curvature
2. Flood / High-Energy Water Simulation
Creation of large flood waves or surges (single strong waves, rising water effect)
Increased vertical displacement without breaking performance
Enhanced foam generation during high wave intensity
Visual cues for turbulence and fast-moving water
3. Visual Polish & Realism
Smoother transitions between calm river flow and aggressive flood states
Reduction of visible repetition and tiling
Parameter-driven controls to switch between normal river mode and flood mode
Technical Context
Unity URP
Shader Graph and/or HLSL
Optimized for real-time use and VR-compatible performance
Clean, adjustable parameters for easy tuning
Expected Outcome
A high-quality, production-ready river water shader where normal flow feels organic and calm, and flood conditions feel powerful, dynamic, and visually convincing—without sacrificing performance.
