Unity 2D Rugby Coaching Application
Budget: $250 – $750 NZD
Develop a simple Unity 2D top-down rugby coaching application for team clarity and play mapping. This is not a commercial game, but a lightweight interactive tool.
There is a video attached of the Spring Boks Rugby team using a very similar software i want to aim for some like there one.
Core Features
1. Field & Players
2D top-down rugby field (static background)
15 player markers (dots or simple icons)
Each player independently movable
Players identifiable (numbers or colours)
2. Player Control
Players can be selected individually
Selected player can be moved freely on the field
Support for either:
Multiple controllers OR
Mouse/keyboard + controller input
(developer to advise simplest approach)
3. Ball Mechanics
Single rugby ball object
Ball attaches to a player when in possession
Ability to pass ball between players
Pass triggered by button input
Ball moves smoothly to target player and attaches on arrival
No collision, tackling, or advanced physics required
4. Coach Master Controls (Global)
Freeze / Pause all player and ball movement
Restart / Reset to initial positions
Play / Resume after freeze
Master controls accessible at all times (coach override)
5. UI & Usability
Simple, clean interface
Minimal buttons (Play, Pause, Reset)
Clear visual clarity for team viewing (TV / projector friendly)
No animations or visual polish required beyond clarity
Technical Requirements
Built in Unity 2D
Clean, well-commented C# scripts
Modular structure so features can be added later
Full Unity project files delivered
Ownership of all source code transferred on completion
Out of Scope (Important)
No AI players
No collision detection
No physics-based tackling
No online multiplayer
No sound design
No mobile deployment at this stage
