Unity VR Cave Experience Build
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m creating an immersive, multi-wall VR Cave installation built in Unity for educational use, specifically to teach concepts in Arts and Design. I already have the physical Cave hardware in place; what I’m missing is a Unity expert who understands the quirks of projection-based VR (camera rig calibration, edge-blending, and real-time synchronization across walls).
Scope of work
• Set up a Unity 2021-LTS (or newer) project configured for a VR Cave rather than a head-mounted display.
• Build an interactive scene that demonstrates Arts & Design learning modules: think sculpt-in-air tools, colour theory visualisers, or gallery walkthroughs. I’ll supply reference assets; feel free to suggest better workflows if you have proven ideas.
• Handle multi-projection alignment, keystone, and edge-blend, plus user tracking via OptiTrack/ART tracker data (already coming in through VRPN).
• Optimise performance so the Cave runs at a consistent 60 Hz on three synced workstations.
• Deliver a clean Unity project, a standalone build for Windows, and a short deployment guide that my on-site techs can follow.
Acceptance criteria
1. All four Cave walls display a perfectly aligned, seamless image with head-tracked parallax.
2. Core Arts & Design interactions work reliably for a single user session of at least 30 minutes without dropped frames.
3. Build and documentation allow my team to replicate the setup in under one hour.
If you’ve shipped a VR Cave, PowerWall, or large-scale projection project before, I’d love to see it. Let’s turn this space into a living art classroom.
