I expect top notch quality. And I will NOT go any higher than the bid price for those who will talk to me just to raise their price to $500.
About the project
I am building a serious game to help teens with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) practice calm breathing and improve their emotional regulation pattern. Players tend a cozy, pixel-art garden. Each play session includes a guided 3-cycle breathing intervention; completing breaths evolves their plants and earns energy points to buy new items. The game will be tested at an ASD center and written up in a research paper (non-medical, academic evaluation).
What I need
I already made the core systems (planting, basic map, rabbit character, breathing overlay). I just need a game artist/UI+UX/Unity generalist to raise overall visual quality, add polish, and expedite production, in short: The game does not look the best.
Scope of work
1. World art + tilemap revamp
• Create a professional, cohesive tileset and props for a garden/park vibe (target tile size 32 px; open to your recommendation).
• Rebuild the main map with depth, layering, and parallax where appropriate.
• Optimize for readability and low visual clutter for neurodivergent players.
2. UI/UX redesign
• New main menu, settings, and in-game HUD.
• New breathing intervention UI: calm progress feedback, clear in/out cues, gentle motion.
• Micro-animations and transitions that feel modern and soothing.
3. Character and VFX polish
• Keep the existing rabbit sprite; improve/retarget idle/walk/planting animations and add a few personality beats.
• Add subtle VFX (plant growth pop, leaf shimmer, dust puffs) using Unity’s Animator/Timeline; light Shader Graph if helpful.
4. Cinematics
• Short opening cutscene (setup the garden and goal).
• Short ending cutscene (reflect progress and calm theme).
• Implement via Unity Timeline; deliver editable sequences.
5. Audio pass (light)
• Hook up calm nature soundscapes and simple SFX (planting, footsteps, UI confirms). I can provide a starter pack or you can propose royalty-free picks.
Accessibility and ASD-friendly expectations
• Calming palettes, adjustable contrast, no rapid flicker.
• Motion reduced by default; all optional animations kept gentle.
• Audio levels capped; master volume slider.
• Clear, minimal iconography and text.
Tech stack
• Unity 2022+ LTS (URP). 2D project.
• C# Animators, Timeline, Addressables (nice to have), DOTween optional.
• Target: Windows/macOS laptop performance at 60 fps on mid-range hardware.
What I provide
• Current Unity project with planting system, basic map, rabbit sprite, and breathing overlay logic.
• Trailer clip and references.
• Color and mood guidelines to start.
Deliverables
• Updated Unity project with all new art, prefabs, animators, and scenes.
• Source files for art (PSD/ASEPRITE or similar), fonts, and audio licenses.
• Style guide: palette, UI components, spacing, and animation specs.
• Playable build for review.
How to apply
Please share:
• 3 portfolio links to shipped or demo-ready 2D games you implemented in Unity.
• Brief note on your process for ASD-friendly visuals (color, motion, audio).
• A rough timeline and quote with milestone breakdown.
• One concrete idea to improve the breathing screen or plant growth feedback.
Thank you! If it is a fit, I will send a short build, references, and a more detailed task list.
