Idle City-Builder Game
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m building a cross-platform idle city-building game in Unity and need help turning a detailed concept into a playable prototype that feels polished on both iOS and Android.
Core experience
• Players earn money passively, spend it to place and upgrade realistic-looking residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, and watch their skyline grow.
• Completing missions focused on unlocking brand-new map zones keeps progression moving. The moment a zone opens, fresh plots, unique building models, and higher revenue caps become available, encouraging continued play.
• The art direction is strictly realistic: textures, lighting, and animations should evoke a living modern city rather than a stylised or low-poly world.
Scope of work
1. Code the incremental economy loop in C# (offline earnings, upgrade multipliers, soft-currency balance).
2. Design a modular grid or node system for placing buildings that supports future content drops.
3. Create or integrate 3D assets that match a realistic style for at least three tiers each of residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
4. Implement the mission framework that checks requirements, grants rewards, and triggers the “unlock new area” sequence with camera fly-through and VFX.
5. Build a clean, touch-friendly UI (Unity UI Toolkit or Canvas) showing balances, timers, upgrade buttons, and a minimap toggle.
6. Produce test builds for both iOS (Metal) and Android (Vulkan/OpenGL ES), ensuring ≤60 MB initial APK/IPA and stable 60 fps on mid-range devices.
Acceptance criteria
• A single scene demo where a user can place, upgrade, and earn from all three building categories.
• At least two map zones that unlock via the mission system.
• Accurate income accrual while the app is closed, verified after a five-minute background test.
• Builds submitted through TestFlight and Google Play internal testing with clear install instructions.
If you’re comfortable owning both code and art integration—using Unity 2021 LTS or newer—and can iterate quickly with Git version control, let’s discuss timelines and milestones.
