DonkeyCar Unity Track Build
Budget: $20 – $50 USD
I have a PNG map that shows a very simple racing line with just a few gentle turns. I want that image turned into a functional DonkeyCar simulator scene in Unity, kept strictly minimalist—no scenery or terrain dressing around the road, just the track itself and whatever empty backdrop you find easiest to render.
Here’s what I need you to do:
• Recreate the road layout from the PNG inside Unity, including clear edge boundaries and reliable WheelCollider-based physics.
• Ensure the vehicle has a visible outer car body so it appears as a complete car in the simulator instead of showing internal components. A simple sports car mesh (for example a SportCar model) can be used for this.
• Drop the standard DonkeyCar vehicle whith prefab into the scene, wire it up so that python manage.py drive --type=sim recognises the world instantly, and make sure the car spawns in the correct direction every time and drive smoothly.
• Export a Linux-ready build (.x86_64) alongside the editable Unity project.
• Add a concise read-me explaining how to open the scene, tweak the spawn point if ever needed, and launch the compiled simulator.
Familiarity with the DonkeyCar simulator is preferred, but strong Unity experience with vehicle physics should be sufficient. I will test the environment by running python manage.py drive --type=sim and confirming that the car spawns correctly and can drive smoothly around the track without physics issues or boundary errors.
