1973 Coup AR MVP Build
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
I am building 1973AR, a location-based mobile experience that lets visitors walk through Paseo Bulnes and the surroundings of La Moneda while reliving the key moments of the September 11, 1973 coup d’état. Historical accuracy is already documented; what I now need is an XR-savvy developer (or small team) who can turn that research into a living, geolocated narrative focused on immersive storytelling and interactive scenes, running smoothly on both iOS and Android.
The prototype must:
• lock 3-D content to precise GPS coordinates along the route, using ARKit/ARCore (cloud anchors or a similar solution)
• blend spatial audio with authentic sound archives so visitors feel helicopters overhead, speeches echoing from balconies, and distant sirens in real time
• present tappable or proximity-triggered interactions that reveal each key moment of the day, rather than a passive timeline
• include a lightweight CMS or data-driven approach so future scenes can be swapped without a full app rebuild
• deliver at least one complete, end-to-end chapter—from onboarding to final fade-out—that we can showcase to cultural partners on-site
Acceptance will be based on:
1. Stable tracking and alignment when tested on location with recent iOS and Android phones.
2. Seamless transition between at least three interactive moments, each synchronized with its spatial audio bed.
3. Build size, performance, and battery drain remaining within typical ARKit/ARCore guidelines for a 30-minute outdoor session.
If you are comfortable with Unity (preferred), C#, Firebase or similar back-end for content updates, and have shipped at least one geolocated AR app, let’s talk. The sooner we have a solid MVP in hand, the faster we can move toward full production and open this window into Chilean history for locals and tourists alike.
