TravelBuddy MVP Design
Budget: ₹600 – ₹1,500 INR
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS DOCUMENT
Project Name: TravelBuddy (Trust-First Travel Companion Platform)
Stage: MVP (Figma Design Only – No Development Yet)
1. PROJECT OVERVIEW
TravelBuddy is a trust-first travel coordination platform that helps users confidently plan trips with strangers by creating verification, transparency, and shared intent before travel.
The MVP focuses on designing the core user experience that enables:
Posting real trip plans
Discovering people with the same travel intent
Building trust through verification and context
Safe communication before travel
This MVP is NOT a full app.
It is a design prototype to validate flow, UX, and usability.
2. GOALS OF THIS MVP
The Figma MVP should help answer:
Can users easily understand how the platform works?
Does the trust-first approach feel clear and reassuring?
Is trip-based matching intuitive?
Does the flow feel safe, simple, and focused?
What success looks like:
A clickable Figma prototype
Clear user flows
Simple, clean UI (not flashy)
Ready for user testing & feedback
3. TARGET USERS
Primary:
Age: 18–35
Solo travelers, backpackers, bikers
People whose friends cancel travel plans
Users concerned about safety when traveling with strangers
Secondary:
Female travelers (extra focus on safety cues)
Budget travelers
4. CORE PRODUCT PRINCIPLES (IMPORTANT)
These principles must guide the design:
Trust over speed
Trip intent over random discovery
Clarity over feature richness
Safety cues visible at every step
Minimal but meaningful UI
5. MVP FEATURES (IN SCOPE)
MUST INCLUDE (DO NOT SKIP)
A. Onboarding Flow
Screens:
Welcome screen (what this app is + trust-first message)
Phone number login (OTP – visual only)
Basic profile setup:
Name
Age
City
Gender (optional visibility)
Travel style (budget / backpacker / biker / leisure)
Short trust explanation screen:
“Why verification matters”
“How we keep users safe”
B. User Profile
Profile must show:
Profile photo
Name, age
City
Travel style tags
Verification badge (mock)
Past trips section (empty state for MVP)
Safety indicators (icons/text)
No social media links needed in MVP.
C. Trip Posting Flow
User can post a trip with:
Destination
Dates (from–to)
Budget range
Departure city
Trip type (solo / group / bike / backpack)
Optional note
Simple form, clean UI.
D. Trip Discovery Screen
Main home screen should focus on:
Trips (not people)
List of active trips
Filters:
Destination
Dates
Budget
City
Each trip card shows:
Destination
Dates
Budget
Number of people interested
Trust indicator icon
E. Trip Room (VERY IMPORTANT)
Each trip has a dedicated room:
List of interested users
Group chat layout (basic)
Trip details pinned at top
Safety reminder banner
This is the core experience.
F. Matching / Interest Flow
Instead of heavy swipe logic:
“Interested” / “Not Interested” buttons
Mutual interest unlocks chat
Swipe UI optional but NOT mandatory for MVP.
G. Safety & Trust Layer (UI Only)
Include:
Verification status
Report user option
Block user option
Community rules screen
“Meet in public places” reminder
No real backend logic needed.
6. FEATURES EXPLICITLY OUT OF SCOPE (DO NOT DESIGN)
No payments
No booking engine
No AI matching
No stories/reels
No reviews & ratings system
No wallet
No notifications logic
No gamification
(These will come later. Designing them now is a mistake.)
7. DESIGN STYLE REQUIREMENTS
Minimal, calm, modern UI
Trust-focused color palette:
Blues / neutrals
Avoid aggressive colors
Clear typography
Icons for safety & verification
Mobile-first (Android priority)
Think:
Airbnb (trust) + Meetup (structure)
NOT
Instagram or Tinder flashiness
8. DELIVERABLES REQUIRED
The freelancer must deliver:
Complete Figma file
Clickable prototype
All core screens
Clear user flow
Component-based design (reusable elements)
No need for:
Developer handoff
Design system docs (yet)
9. EXPECTED NUMBER OF SCREENS
Approximate:
15–20 screens total
Quality > quantity.
10. TIMELINE
Expected timeline:
10–14 days
With 1–2 feedback iterations
11. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR FREELANCER
This is a trust-first platform, not a social media app.
Design decisions should:
Reduce fear
Increase clarity
Encourage intentional behavior
Avoid casual/random vibes
If something feels “fun but unsafe” → don’t design it.
12. FINAL SUCCESS CRITERIA
The MVP is successful if:
A first-time user understands the platform in under 2 minutes
The app feels safe even before real verification exists
The trip-based flow feels natural
Users say: “I’d feel comfortable planning a trip here”
