Hybrid UI/UX Design and QA Engineer Role
Budget: £5 – £10 GBP
UI/UX designer + QA engineer — mobile-first web app
Hourly engagement
Web app
Mobile-first
Ongoing
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a skilled designer who can own the full design-to-QA cycle on a web application. You'll receive written requirements and reference screenshots, then translate them into polished, production-ready designs — and later test the developers' implementation against those designs. This is an ongoing, part-time hourly engagement that requires both a strong design eye and a QA mindset.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Review written requirements and reference screenshots to understand expected page behaviour and layout
Produce clear, detailed designs — either as Figma files or directly as frontend code (HTML/CSS/JS or a component framework); we're flexible on the deliverable as long as it communicates intent precisely
Design mobile-first: screens must look great at small sizes and scale gracefully to desktop
Write and execute test cases once the development team has built the pages, verifying the output matches the agreed designs
Raise clear, reproducible bug reports for any visual or functional discrepancies found during QA
Collaborate asynchronously with the dev team to see fixes through to completion
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Proven experience designing web application interfaces, with a portfolio demonstrating mobile-first work
Comfortable working in Figma OR able to produce clean frontend code — strong preference for candidates who can do both
Solid understanding of responsive design principles and how designs translate into code
Experience performing QA or UAT on web applications — you know what to look for and how to document it
Ability to write structured test cases from design specs and requirements
Clear written communication in English — most collaboration will be async
Self-directed and comfortable working with minimal hand-holding
NICE TO HAVE
Experience with design systems or component libraries
Familiarity with browser dev tools for QA (checking responsiveness, inspecting layout issues)
Previous freelance work on similar hybrid design + QA contracts
