Hello,
I'm currently developing a single-player hacking and cyber-operations simulator called Nightshade Protocol, built in Godot Engine. The game takes place inside a custom operating system called Nexus OS, and we're looking for a UI/UX designer to help redesign the desktop environment, application icons, and window system to feel as close to a real modern operating system as possible.
Our goal is not an arcade-style interface. We want players to feel as though they're sitting in front of an actual computer. The more realistic and immersive the experience, the better.
Project Overview
The player works for a covert organization called Nightshade and interacts with the game entirely through the desktop environment. Every action takes place inside Nexus OS, including:
Browsing the web
Managing files
Secure communications
Banking and finances
System settings
Monitoring hardware and network usage
Managing cloud storage
Listening to music
Accepting missions and contracts
We already have concept art for many of the applications and icons, but we're looking for someone to refine and unify the visual language into a polished, believable operating system.

Consistent icon language
Smooth transitions and hover effects
Dark theme with subtle neon accents
Glass, metal, and premium materials
Think somewhere between:
Windows 11
macOS
Linux desktop environments
A grounded cyberpunk aesthetic
The interface should feel futuristic, but believable.
Godot Requirements
Because the project is built in Godot, all assets need to be delivered in a format that can be easily imported into the engine.
Preferred deliverables:
SVG files whenever possible
Layered PSD or Figma source files
PNG exports with transparent backgrounds
Individual icon components separated into layers
Separate states for each icon (idle, active, alert, offline, etc.)
512×512 master icons with scalable exports
Window assets sliced into reusable pieces (corners, borders, title bars, buttons)
Consistent spacing and sizing guidelines
For windows and UI components, we need:
Nine-slice compatible assets
Separate minimize, maximize, and close buttons
Hover, pressed, and disabled states
Scalable panels and frames
Modular design elements that can be reused throughout the OS
Additional Notes
We already have concept boards and references for the icons and applications, so this is not a project starting from scratch. The main objective is to transform those concepts into a cohesive, production-ready desktop experience.
Immersion is our highest priority. We want players to forget they're in a game and feel like they're operating a real computer.
