Taiwanese Folktales Localization & Redesign
Budget: £10 – £15 GBP
A collection of Taiwanese folktales is moving from its draft form into a polished edition for readers aged 9-12, and I need every story fully localised and visually re-worked for that audience. The job centres on two areas only—text content and overall layout/formatting—so illustrations will stay as they are.
Here is the flow I have in mind:
• Text localisation: each tale must read naturally to young Taiwanese readers while staying faithful to the original plot and cultural nuances. Tone, vocabulary, idioms and dialogue all need adjustment to suit a confident middle-grade reading level.
• Layout refresh: once the words are final, the pages should be rebuilt in a clean, kid-friendly format that organises chapters, highlights key phrases and keeps line lengths comfortable. I use Adobe InDesign, though Affinity Publisher works fine too; packaged source files plus a print-ready PDF will complete the hand-off.
I will supply the raw manuscripts, current style sheet and sample page dimensions at kick-off, along with a short reference guide for language conventions specific to Taiwan. A one-page test (before-and-after) will help confirm we are aligned before you proceed to the full set.
The finished product should let any 9-to-12-year-old in Taiwan dive straight into these folktales without stumbling over wording or design, so clarity, cultural authenticity and reader engagement are the top priorities.
