Bilingual Magazine Typography Layout
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I am finalising a bilingual publication that blends magazine-style pacing with the depth of a book, and I need a keen typographer to bring its pages into perfect harmony. The goal is crystal-clear readability in both languages while maintaining aligned grids, balanced white space, and an overall modern aesthetic that speaks to young adult readers.
The work revolves around:
• Cleaning up and standardising text styles so English and the second language sit naturally side-by-side.
• Locking in a baseline grid, column structure, and consistent margins so every spread feels cohesive.
• Finessing headings, pull-quotes, and captions so they guide the eye without stealing focus from the content.
• Delivering press-ready files (InDesign or an equivalent professional layout tool) together with packaged fonts and linked assets.
Acceptance criteria
1. All body text aligns to the established baseline grid in both languages.
2. No overset text or orphaned headers across 64 pages (current length).
3. Colour and type hierarchy remain consistent through at least three successive test prints.
4. Final hand-off includes an editable source file and a print-ready PDF that passes pre-flight checks.
If meticulous alignment, bilingual typesetting, and a clean, youthful look are in your wheelhouse, I’d love to see a couple of relevant spreads from your portfolio and discuss timelines.
