Scope of Work:
1. DIACRITICAL MARKS POSITIONING
• Anchor-Based Positioning: 236 simple glyphs (≈4,200+ mark combinations) + 521 ligatures (≈28,000+ combinations) using OpenType anchors (attachment points for precise mark placement).
• Mark Classes: Systematic categorisation of diacritical marks (fatha, damma, kasra, shadda, etc.) with mkmk lookups (mark-to-mark positioning for stacked marks).
2. UNICODE/OPENTYPE SCRIPTING
• Core Features: calt (contextual alternates for smart substitution), liga/rlig (standard/required ligatures), mark/mkmk (diacritical positioning), curs (cursive connections), kern (spacing adjustments).
• Contextual Processing: Nuqṭah (dot) management, preventing interference, optimised joining behaviour for cursive flow.
• Latin Character Integration — Times New Roman-based English alphabet, punctuation, and symbols harmonised with Arabic design aesthetic and baseline metrics.
