Django-based Interactive Family Tree Module

Project Description:

We are developing a Gotra Project where the main requirement is to build a Family Tree Module similar to MyHeritage but simpler.

Technologies to be used:

Backend: Django Framework (Python) – to manage data models, relationships, and APIs.

Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap – for a responsive and interactive user interface.

Key Features Required:

Dynamic Family Tree Creation

Ability to add members in both directions:

Ancestors (above)

Descendants (below)

Tree should update dynamically when a new member is added.

Multiple Relationships Support

While adding children, system should prompt to choose the correct parent (in case of multiple wives/husbands).

Support for direct relationships like:

Father / Mother

Son / Daughter

Husband / Wife

Brother / Sister

User-Friendly Interactive UI

Click to add new family members.

Expand/Collapse generations for easy navigation.

Responsive design (works on mobile and desktop).

Deliverables:

Django-based backend with APIs for family member CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete).

Frontend family tree UI with interactive nodes and relationship linking.

Documentation on how to set up and extend the module.

Reference:

UI/Experience similar to MyHeritage Family Tree.

Skills Required:

Django (Python)

JavaScript (preferably with experience in interactive tree visualization)

Bootstrap, HTML, CSS

Experience in building family tree or genealogy-related modules will be a plus
