Freelance translator

Alpha Hong Kong is looking for a
Translator to assist our team in our
bilingual communications to various
stakeholders. The Translator will utilise
his/her English and Chinese language
skills to ensure Alpha brand alignment
and safeguard messaging consistency
for our ministry.

explore the basics of the Christian faith. The vision
of Alpha is to see the evangelisation of the nations,
the revitalisation of the church and the
transformation of societies. Our mission is to inspire,
train, equip and mobilise churches around the
world into more effective evangelism through
Alpha and its related ministries. Today more than
25 million people around the world in more than
100 countries have attended Alpha in more than
100 languages.
Key Responsibilities
Translate material while maintaining
context (mostly from English to Chinese)
on a per job basis
Ensure all text are well written, accurate,
logically structured and in the right style
for the intended audience
Safeguard Alpha branding alignment
and consistency of terminology and style
Discuss potential problems in the original
text, from the grammatical structure to
potential risks or legal issues
Highly flexible work hours and location,
but may occasionally need to work
compensated overtime in meeting
publication deadlines
Qualifications & Essential Skills
Excellent written and verbal
communication skills specifically related
to text in both English and Chinese
Ability to preserve the author's “voice”
after translation
Previous experience working as part of a
global organisation would be a plus
Candidates experienced in copywriting
and translation may be considered for a
part-time position
