Estimated Time: 1–3 hours (can be extended if necessary)

Assignment Description
We are looking for a technical consultant with experience in Windows networking, SMB/CIFS file sharing, and VPN troubleshooting to assist with the following:

Problem:

One Windows 11 client PC cannot access the shared folder \\NETWORK-PC\Sagsstyring

Error: Network path not found (0x80070035) – even though the machine is visible on the network and responds to ping

VPN (SoftEther) is not active in this case – both computers are connected to the same LAN

Additional info:

Other client PCs can access the shared folder without issues (e.g., Johnny's home desktop via VPN)

The shared folder is properly configured on NETWORK-PC (Windows Pro/Business)

File sharing and network discovery are enabled

Windows Defender Firewall has been temporarily disabled for testing

We have tried:
PING to host works (2ms round trip)

File sharing and network discovery are both enabled

Firewall disabled temporarily

Attempted login with and without credentials

Verified required services (e.g., Function Discovery Provider Host)

We need help with:
Troubleshooting SMB file sharing between Windows client and NETWORK-PC

Resolving issues with network path discovery, credentials, or access permissions

Ensuring shared folder access works internally (LAN) and via SoftEther VPN

Guidance on correct setup for Windows Defender/Firewall/SMB 2+ in this context

Desired Qualifications:
Experience with Windows peer-to-peer networking, SMB protocol

Familiarity with SoftEther VPN or similar client-side VPN setups

Skilled at troubleshooting logs, system services, network access, and credentials
