Repair Outlook PDF Search Index
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
After moving to a new laptop, Outlook no longer returns results for words inside attached PDFs—even though normal message text is found. Search still works inside Adobe Acrobat Reader itself, so I suspect the issue lies with Windows Search / Outlook’s indexing of PDF content (iFilter, registry keys, or similar).
Here’s what I need:
• Identify why PDF text is excluded from Outlook search on the new machine.
• Apply or walk me through the quickest fix—whether that’s installing/configuring the correct Adobe PDF iFilter, adjusting index options, repairing the Outlook search catalog, or any other proven tweak.
• Verify that a test query finds text buried inside a PDF attachment once indexing completes.
This is a straightforward troubleshooting task; I’m only looking for the minimal steps required to restore full-text PDF search, not a full system overhaul.
