Live Guidance: Trace Coax Cable using Vivax Metrotech utility locator

Job ID: 40407274

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I have a Vivax Metrotech utility locator with a transmitter and clamp. I'm trying to trace a coaxial utility drop. I see it coming down from the utility pole, and see it in the house, but can't figure out where it goes out of the house. I'd love live help using the vLocML2 locator.

What I have tried so far:
- I've had an electrician cut holes and trace the cable, but it gets lost deep in foam insulation
- I've had a professional utility locator trace and mark the cable from the pole to the house. I've dug down deep where he marked it but can't find the cable (I see the electrical conduit, not the coax)
- I've tried using the Vivax-Metrotech locator but am struggling. The depth rating doesn't change when I try to determine the depth of the line. The locator registers multiple signals, yet when I dig on the strongest mark, no cable appears.

I want real-time, one-on-one help—preferably a video call where you can watch the meter response with me, coach me on the correct frequency, gain, and grounding setup, and walk me through proven field techniques for isolating just the coax feed that enters my house.

What I expect from our session
• Live screen-share or phone video while I operate the Vivax Metrotech locator
• Clear direction on transmitter connection points, mode selection, and interpretation of depth/left-right arrows
• Troubleshooting advice if the signal bleeds onto other utilities or disappears entirely

If you have deep experience with Vivax Metrotech (or similar pipe & cable locators) and can spare an hour or so for guided field work, I’m ready to schedule the call.
