On-Site Chinese Mining Translator

Job ID: 39835231

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I need a freelance Chinese-speaking translator who can be physically present at our mining site in Ketapang, West Kalimantan. The role centres on real-time interpretation during field inspections, toolbox meetings, and discussions with our Mandarin-speaking partners, as well as accurate written translation of any follow-up notes or documentation we produce on site.

Because we operate under strict Indonesian environmental regulations, you must already be comfortable with the related terminology—air and water-quality monitoring, reclamation plans, waste-handling reports, and permitting language in particular. Your translations have to capture the nuance of these terms precisely so nothing is lost in communication with regulators or head-office teams.

Day-to-day you will shadow our operational and HSE staff, switch smoothly between Mandarin and Bahasa/English, and turn around concise written summaries at the end of each shift. Expect a rugged work setting: safety gear, outdoor travel across the pit, and occasional evening debriefs come with the territory.

Deliverables
• Consecutive or whispered interpretation on site whenever Chinese-speaking visitors are present
• Same-day bilingual meeting minutes and email drafts, formatted in Word or Google Docs
• Ad-hoc translation of environmental compliance material created during the project

Accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to work face-to-face in Ketapang are non-negotiable. If you are ready to spend time at the mine and keep our cross-language communication seamless, I’d like to hear how soon you can arrive and how many consecutive days you can commit.
