Shopify French-to-English Product Translations

Context

We run two separate Shopify stores: one in French (source) and one in British English (UK) (destination).
The goal is to duplicate ~50–60 product pages from the French store to the English store, keeping structure, visuals, variants and overall ecommerce consistency.

You will receive Shopify collaborator access to both stores.

Deliverable (what “done” means for each product)

For each French product page, create the equivalent product in the English store with:

Translation into British English (UK), with light marketing adaptation when relevant (no invention, same meaning).

All images added in the exact same order as the French product page, with the same featured image.

Same HTML structure, based on <h3> headings that generate tabs/sections. The <h3> titles must be translated exactly as specified below.

All variants recreated strictly identically (same options + same values), with SKUs correctly set.

Product title + subtitle (e.g., the <h2> block) translated.

Example naming convention: “Chess Set Orée” (not “Jeu d’Échecs Orée”).

Tags: copy exactly (no translation), identical tags as the French product.

Prices: convert from EUR to GBP using a single fixed exchange rate (we will provide the rate + rounding rule before production).

Measurements: convert everything to imperial only (inches / pounds), with the rounding rules below. No cm/mm/kg must remain.

Internal links: replace with the English equivalent if it exists; otherwise remove the link.

Tab structure (H3 headings in UPPERCASE)

All tab titles must be in <h3> and UPPERCASE, exactly as follows:

Do not change spelling or casing. These headings control the tab display.

Conversion rules (imperial only)
A) Dimensions

Chess pieces (height + base): display in inches in “chess retail” format, e.g. 3.75"

Chessboard overall dimensions: round to the nearest half-inch (0.5")

Square size: round to the nearest quarter-inch (0.25")

Border width: follow the chessboard rule (half-inch), unless it is treated like square-size data (then quarter-inch)

B) Weight

Convert to lb only, rounded cleanly for readability (e.g. 2.3 lb).

C) Formatting

Use decimal point (e.g. 1.05), never a comma.

Content rules

Free delivery promise: keep the same promise (translate it, but keep the same information).

Chess training / course mention: remove it from English pages (do not mention it).

No ALT text work is required.

Keep wood species names and Latin names accurate (translate only what should be translated).

Images & variants

Images must match the French page: same order + same featured image.

Variants must be cloned exactly:

same options / values,

same SKUs,

same variant image assignment if used.

Prices in GBP

Apply one fixed EUR→GBP rate to the whole batch (we will provide it).

Apply one consistent price rounding rule (we will provide it).

Mandatory test phase

Deliver 3 test products first (including: one with variants + one with lots of measurements).

We validate translation, conversions, tabs, images, variants, prices, and links.

After approval, proceed with the remaining ~50–60 products.

Acceptance criteria (QA)

A product is accepted if:

tabs work and H3 titles match exactly,

no metric units remain (no cm / mm / kg),

conversions follow the specified rounding rules,

images match French order + featured image,

variants/options/values + SKUs are identical,

prices are correctly converted to GBP,

internal links are updated to EN if available, otherwise removed,

training/course mention is removed.

Constraints

You must use ChatGPT to translate.

You can work manually or via CSV—your choice—but do not use paid Shopify translation apps at our expense.
