Research Transcription and Translation (Filipino to English)
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
We’re looking for a transcriptionist and translator who can transcribe Filipino audio interviews into English scripts.
The interviews are part of an engineering research project about building safer homes after disasters. There are a combination of one-on-one and group interviews, with the main content focusing on what factors influenced post-disaster housing reconstruction in the Philippines. As such, construction- and shelter-related terminologies are common in the audio files.
The audio files are mainly in Filipino, but with a mix of Itbayaten (the language spoken in Itbayat, Batanes, Philippines). However, the transcriptionist/translator is only expected to transcribe and translate the conversations in Filipino and disregard the conversation in Itbayaten (to be replaced with annotations indicating they were spoken in a different language).
The project will include a total of 16.5 audio hours. We are looking for someone who can complete all the transcriptions/translations within three (3) weeks. Rates are to be based on total audio hours and a couple of transcriptions/translations will be reviewed for quality control at the start of the project.
