Legal Assistance for Discrimination Cases

Job ID: 39585691

Budget: $15 – $45 USD

Job Description (Summary):

I am a pro se litigant currently handling a public accommodation discrimination charge with the Ohio Civil Rights Commission (OCRC) and preparing a 42 U.S.C. § 1983 claim. I need assistance with various tasks as I prepare these cases, including call transcription, document review, fact organization, and drafting complaints. The work will involve reviewing emails, documents, University of Toledo policies, creating a factual narrative, handling public records requests, and assisting in the preparation of a mandamus action. This case involves public accommodation discrimination under Title II and possibly gender discrimination, and it includes disciplinary hearings at the University of Toledo. These tasks are connected to ongoing cases and potential future legal filings. This work will require attention to detail, familiarity with discrimination claims, and a solid understanding of public records law and university policies.

Job Details:

1. OCRC Charge of Public Accommodation Discrimination (filed September 6, 2025)

- I am currently preparing a supplement to the original charge. The supplement will expand on additional discriminatory actions, including those involving disability accommodations and retaliation under ADA Title II and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. We are considering the addition of gender discrimination to the charge at a later stage.

2. 42 U.S.C. § 1983 Claim

- I am preparing to file a 1983 claim, which may involve procedural due process issues, retaliation, and possible violations under the First and Fourteenth Amendments. Assistance is needed to review supporting documents and prepare the factual narrative.

3. University Disciplinary Hearings (UT-specific)

- The case also involves disciplinary actions taken by the University of Toledo, and related university policies. This includes addressing procedural issues in the disciplinary process and reviewing University of Toledo policies on student conduct, accommodations, and due process.

4. Document Review & Call Transcription

- Review emails, documents, and transcripts (including those already provided) to ensure relevant details are captured for the case. Specific work includes reviewing policies from the University of Toledo and transcribing recorded calls into written formats, as these will be integral to future filings.

5. Public Records & Mandamus Action

- Assist with public records requests for University of Toledo documents and related communications, including preparation for mandamus action if requests are not adequately fulfilled within Ohio statutory timelines.

6. Factual Narratives & Drafting Complaints

- Prepare factual narratives to accompany filings, focusing on clarity, chronology, and alignment with legal requirements. Draft legal complaints based on the provided narrative, working within ethical guidelines that pro se litigants must adhere to.

Ethical Guidelines

- As a pro se litigant, I will handle all legal strategies myself. Assistance will be limited to factual organization, document review, transcription, legal research, and drafting.
- All work will be done within the scope of legal support services, and I understand that no legal advice can be provided.
