Pipe System Thermal Stress Analysis

Job ID: 39728078

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

Thermal Stress Analysis on Pipes

I'm seeking a skilled engineer to perform a thermal stress analysis on a piping system. The project requires a detailed finite element analysis (FEA) to assess the structural integrity of the pipes under thermal loading.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct FEA to simulate the thermal expansion and resulting stresses in a pipe system.

Analyze the effects of temperature changes on pipe supports, anchors, and other components.

Evaluate potential failure points, such as high-stress concentrations at elbows, reducers, or welds.

Provide recommendations to mitigate thermal stresses, including suggestions for expansion loops or bellows.

Generate a professional report detailing the analysis methodology, assumptions, and key findings.

Required Skills & Experience

Extensive experience with thermal and structural FEA.

Proficiency with FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, Caesar II).

Strong understanding of pipe stress analysis principles and relevant codes (e.g., ASME B31).

Knowledge of heat transfer, material properties, and thermal expansion coefficients for various pipe materials.

Experience in the oil & gas, power generation, or chemical industries is a plus.

Excellent technical report writing skills.
