I’m engineering a single-family house supported by hollow structural steel columns and want absolute confidence that each column will carry the full design axial load while remaining stable for at least 120 minutes in a fully developed fire. To achieve this I need a complete, calculation-backed design package—structural sizing, fire performance verification, and a calibrated Abaqus model—that demonstrates compliance with the International Building Code (IBC). My intention is to wrap the members in proprietary fire-proof cladding rather than intumescent paints or concrete encasement, so the analysis must capture both the mechanical and thermal contribution of that cladding system.

Key deliverables
• Section selection and capacity calculations for every column at service and ultimate limit states
• 120-minute fire rating verification, including thermal analysis of the cladding and resulting strength-reduction curves
• A ready-to-run Abaqus file (with material cards, boundary conditions, and load steps clearly organised) that reproduces the fire-exposure scenario and ultimate load test
• Concise design brief summarising assumptions, codes, and safety factors so the package is ready for my permit submittal

Acceptance criteria
1. All calculations reference the latest IBC provisions for residential structures.
2. Abaqus results and hand checks match within a reasonable tolerance and show no strength or stability failure before 120 minutes.
3. Output files open and run without errors in Abaqus/CAE 2020 or newer.
