Stretchable Fabric Blend Development

Job ID: 40348508

Budget: £250 – £750 GBP

I am ready to move from concept to cloth and need a fabric-technology partner to make it happen. My goal is to create a proprietary stretchable blend for a women’s-wear line that feels high-end, holds shape, and offers reliable moisture management without sacrificing breathability.

Here is where the project currently stands:
• Performance target: specialized stretchability with secondary moisture-wicking benefits.
• Base idea: a polyester-forward blend, though I am open to weaving in cotton, bamboo, linen, or other fibres if it improves hand feel and recovery.
• Market positioning: contemporary women’s fashion, so drape, softness, and vibrant dye uptake matter as much as the technical specs.

What I need from you:
• Guidance refining fibre percentages, yarn count, knit or weave structure, and finishing processes that unlock the stretch and comfort profile we want.
• Small-batch prototyping—lab dips, swatches, or knit panels—followed by a clear technical pack (GSM, shrinkage, colourfastness, elongation, recovery).
• Suggestions for mills or converters with proven quality and MOQ flexibility; existing relationships are a plus.

Acceptance criteria
1. At least two viable fabric recipes with full technical specifications.
2. Physical test swatches that meet our stretch and feel benchmarks.
3. Sourcing roadmap that identifies cost, lead-time, and minimums for scaling.

If you have tackled similar performance blends, especially in women’s apparel, I’d love to see brief examples or data points. Let’s build a fabric that moves the way modern wardrobes do.
