Heat-Resistant Protective Fabric Development

Job ID: 39844365

Budget: $250 – $750 CAD

I need a textile engineer who can help me identify or engineer a fabric that stands up to high heat and oil while remaining flexible and lightweight enough for protective gear. The core challenge is balancing thermal and burn resistance with wearer comfort, so I am open to a custom fiber blend, smart finishes, or a clever weave construction—whatever best achieves the goal.

Here’s what I’m expecting:
• A clear recommendation (or short list) of fabric constructions that meet the thermal, oil-resistant, lightweight, and flexibility targets, including fiber percentages and any chemical finishes you would apply.
• Guidance on industry-standard tests (ASTM, NFPA, ISO, etc.) that will verify performance and an outline of the expected test values.
• Supplier or mill suggestions where I can quickly source yardage or prototypes.
• If possible, a small swatch or prototype plan so I can evaluate drape and hand in person.

Please detail any similar protective textile projects you have completed and the tools or testing labs you prefer to work with. I’m ready to move fast once we confirm a viable path.
