# Freelance Fashion Designer – Kanchipuram Saree Collection

## About Us

Kalasha is a premium Indian ethnic wear brand dedicated to celebrating timeless craftsmanship through contemporary design. We are looking for a talented freelance fashion designer with strong expertise in **Kanchipuram silk sarees** to help create original, market-ready collections that blend tradition with modern elegance.

## Role

We are seeking a designer who understands the heritage of Kanchipuram weaving while bringing fresh, innovative ideas suitable for today's premium market.

This is a freelance, project-based opportunity with the potential for long-term collaboration.

## Responsibilities

* Design original Kanchipuram silk saree collections aligned with the Kalasha brand.
* Develop creative concepts, colour stories and collection themes.
* Create detailed saree design illustrations showing:

* Body design
* Border
* Pallu
* Blouse design
* Motifs and placement
* Colour combinations
* Recommend suitable weaving techniques, zari styles and fabric specifications.
* Prepare production-ready design sheets with clear technical details for manufacturers.
* Work closely with our team to refine concepts and collections.
* Ensure all designs are original and do not infringe on existing designs or copyrights.

## Requirements

* Proven experience designing Kanchipuram silk sarees.
* Strong understanding of traditional South Indian weaving techniques and motifs.
* Ability to modernise heritage designs while respecting traditional craftsmanship.
* Excellent colour sense and textile knowledge.
* Experience creating luxury or premium ethnic wear collections is highly preferred.
* Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate or similar design software.
* Strong portfolio showcasing saree designs (applications without a relevant portfolio will not be considered).

## Deliverables

* Original saree design concepts.
* Technical design sheets.
* Colour palettes.
* Blouse design concepts.
* Production-ready artwork suitable for weaving.
* Revisions based on feedback.

## What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a designer who can create distinctive, commercially viable collections that honour the heritage of Kanchipuram silk while giving Kalasha its own unique design identity.
