Cucumber Expert Needed to Establish Testing Framework

We are looking for an experienced Cucumber expert or QA Engineer to help our team establish a robust automated testing framework. This role involves setting up the Cucumber framework from scratch, training our team on best practices, and ensuring they are fully equipped to maintain and expand the testing suite after the project goes live. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in automated testing, Cucumber, and mentoring teams in adopting new tools and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Framework Setup: Design and implement a Cucumber-based automated testing framework tailored to our existing development environment. Ensure the framework is scalable, maintainable, and integrates seamlessly with our CI/CD pipeline.

Test Script Development: Develop and optimize automated test scripts using Cucumber, ensuring comprehensive coverage of critical workflows and functionality. Collaborate with the development team to identify key areas for testing.

Team Training: Provide hands-on training sessions and create detailed documentation to educate the team on using Cucumber effectively. Ensure team members understand how to write and execute tests, troubleshoot issues, and maintain the framework.

Best Practices Implementation: Establish and enforce best practices for test automation, including test design patterns, naming conventions, and code reviews. Guide the team on integrating automated testing into the overall development lifecycle.

Continuous Integration (CI) Integration: Work with our DevOps team to integrate the Cucumber framework into our CI pipeline. Ensure that automated tests run smoothly during the build process and provide actionable feedback to the development team.

Support & Handoff: Offer ongoing support during the initial stages of framework adoption. Once the project is live, provide a smooth handoff to the internal team, ensuring they have the confidence and skills to manage the framework independently.

Requirements:

Proven Expertise in Cucumber: Extensive experience in setting up and managing Cucumber frameworks, preferably in a lead or architect role.

Automation Skills: Strong background in automated testing with a solid understanding of test automation principles, tools, and frameworks. Experience with Selenium, Appium, or similar tools is a plus.

Programming Knowledge: Proficiency in programming languages commonly used with Cucumber, such as Java, Ruby, or JavaScript. Ability to write clean, maintainable code.

Training & Mentorship Experience: Demonstrated ability to train and mentor teams in adopting new tools and processes. Experience creating training materials and documentation.

CI/CD Experience: Familiarity with integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and optimizing test execution in a continuous integration environment.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical team members.
