Our production and staging workloads run on AWS Aurora Serverless MySQL, and the cluster now needs an expert hand to keep it lean, fast, and developer-friendly.
Right away I need deep-dive database optimization, precise schema modifications, and continuous performance monitoring. You’ll work side-by-side with the backend team—reviewing pull requests, advising on best practices, and supplying migration scripts that fit cleanly into our CI/CD pipeline.
Key goals
• Tune queries, indexes, and cluster parameters so p99 latency stays consistently low.
• Design and apply zero-downtime schema changes with rollback plans.
• Stand up robust monitoring and alerting through Aurora Performance Insights, CloudWatch, and an open-source dashboard of your choice.
Deliverables are complete when:
1. Benchmark reports show the agreed performance gains in both staging and production.
2. Migration scripts execute safely through GitHub Actions without data loss.
3. Dashboards surface CPU, memory, I/O, and slow query metrics, backed by a concise runbook.
Environment highlights: Aurora Serverless v2 (MySQL), Terraform/AWS CDK, GitHub Actions. IAM role–based access will be provided; every change must remain Infrastructure-as-Code friendly.
