Azure Optimization and Migration Project
Budget: $25 – $50 CAD
I am looking to streamline our Azure footprint in two clearly defined stages.
Stage 1 is intentionally small and fast: our Development tier has mushroomed into more environments than needed, each one running on 8-core VMs. These environments should be retired and the remaining ones downsized to a lower-core SKU to reduce compute and licence charges. The work here is largely about rationalising the Terraform/ARM templates and validating that pipelines, secrets and monitoring all still light up correctly after the change.
Stage 2 is broader. Once the quick wins are locked in, we require a thorough audit of the entire Azure estate—including networking, identity, storage, databases, logging, and CI/CD—to produce a secure, simplified and cost-efficient target architecture that respects our existing SOC 2 controls. We run two web applications: an older single-instance product and a newly launched successor where all customers will eventually land. Your findings should therefore include a phased migration plan that retires the legacy app cleanly and moves workloads into the new design with minimal downtime.
The deliverables are:
• Stage 1: decommission redundant resources, downsize remaining VMs, update IaC and release pipelines, and supply a short validation report.
• Stage 2: written audit report, reference architecture diagrams, detailed migration runbook with rollback steps, updated IaC, and hands-on execution until the new setup is live and passing SOC 2 checks.
