Tekla Steel Detailing for Escalator Frame
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
We are seeking an experienced steel detailer / fabrication draughtsperson to produce a full set of workshop-ready fabrication drawings for a structural steel frame located beneath an escalator.
This is a structurally significant frame supporting architectural wall panelling and interfacing with an escalator system. The design includes primary steel members, bracing systems, and multiple connection types.
Drawings will be provided in PDF and DWG format.
Project Scope:
You will be responsible for developing the provided design drawings into a fully detailed fabrication package, resolving all detailing required for workshop manufacture and site installation.
The structure includes:
SHS column framework (various sizes including 120x120 and larger supports)
PFC beams and UB interface connections
Diagonal cross-bracing system
Baseplates and resin anchor fixings
Brackets and connections to existing structure
Key Deliverables:
1. General Arrangement (GA) Drawings
Fully dimensioned layout
Setting-out relative to gridlines
Levels and coordination with surrounding structure
2. Assembly Drawings
Frame broken into logical fabrication assemblies
Clear erection sequence where required
Identification of bracing zones and structural members
3. Detailed Part Drawings
Individual members (cut lengths, mitres, angles)
Plates (baseplates, gussets, cleats, brackets)
Fully dimensioned and fabrication-ready
4. Connection Detailing (Critical)
You will be required to fully detail all connection types, including:
SHS column to baseplate connections with anchor bolts
Beam-to-column connections (PFC / SHS)
Cross-bracing connections with plates and bolting
Fixings to existing structure (where shown)
Interface with primary UB beam
Technical Requirements:
All drawings must be fully workshop-ready and include:
Accurate and complete dimensioning (no assumptions required)
Member sizes, profiles, and exact cut lengths
Bracing geometry and connection configuration
Plate sizes, thicknesses, and hole locations
Bolt specifications:
M12 / M16 / M20 fixings
Hole sizes and edge distances
Full weld specifications:
Weld symbols
Weld sizes (e.g. 6mm fillet welds unless noted otherwise)
Weld extents
Baseplate detailing including:
Anchor positions
Edge distances
Installation tolerances
Tolerances for site fit-up (critical due to escalator interface)
Part numbering and tagging system
Fabrication notes and installation considerations
Important Considerations:
Tight spatial constraints around escalator – accuracy is critical
Structural bracing must be clearly defined and buildable
Drawings must be suitable for direct workshop use without clarification

Candidate Requirements:
Proven experience in structural steel detailing
Experience with braced frames and connection detailing
Strong understanding of fabrication and site installation constraints
Ability to interpret structural intent and resolve missing details
High attention to detail – drawings must be fully buildable
