Monitor not connecting to Lenovo laptop

I'm looking for an expert to help me get my Lenovo laptop to connect to my monitor. The laptop is running Windows 10 and the monitor is a MSI model. To my knowledge, there have been no recent changes to either the laptop's hardware or its operating system.
