Section A – Define a Data Management Strategy Minimum 5 Pages [15 Marks]
1. Identify the data sources (structured and non-structured) in any organization.
2. Identify the integration points between systems. Explain how data is integrated between systems. Provide examples to illustrate different practices.
3. Define V factors (Volume / Velocity / Variety / Veracity / Value etc) for important data sources. State how the organization has overcome those challenges.
4. Using the above data source, define a data management strategy. It should cover all aspects of data management.
5. Define Non-functional requirements (Security / Performance / Scalability etc) for each data sources.
Section B – Case Study for Security Minimum 5 Pages [20 Marks]
Security is an essential factor in data Management.
1 Define a Security Architecture for a selected organization. This architecture should cover multiple systems, different levels of users, authentication, authorization, encryption, and auditing. The report should include flow diagrams etc.
2 Define the Enrollment, Verification, and Recovery Process with suitable diagrams for the authentication system with the following properties. You can include additional standard properties.
• Password Length should be eight characters.
• Password should not be part of the user name
• Password should include any three of the following.
– Lower case
– Upper case
– Numeric
– Special Characters
• Password should be HASHed, SALTed, PEPPERed.
• Password should change every 04 months.
• Password should change at first login.
• Password should not be used before.
• Login names should be audited.
• In the case of three continuous unsuccessful login attempts, the user will be locked.
• In the case of an unsuccessful login attempt, a notification should be sent to the administrator.
• During password recovery, the secret question technique should be used.
• Necessary notifications should be sent where appropriate.
• During the password recovery, Two Factor Authentication should be used with a mobile phone or an email.
Section C – HA DR
Minimum 6 Pages [15 Marks]
Purpose: Define HA and DR systems for a hospital system. Select an organization and choose an important system that needs HA & DR to be implemented.
1. Critically evaluate why you need HA & DR system for the above system.
2. Explain the combination of HA & DR options you can implement in the selected system.
3. Define a DR strategy for the selected system in case of a disaster.
4. Define a backup and recovery plan for data.
5. Briefly explain the key steps to ensure the proper function of the DR system are?
Section D – NoSQL Databases [20 Marks]
1. Briefly explain the key motivations behind the NoSQL databases (500 words). (2 marks)
2. Describe any real-world business scenario/requirement which is most suitable for following each of the NoSQL type.
a. Graph databases
b. Key/Value stores
c. Document stores
d. Column-Family databases
Your answer needs to cover the following aspects.
There need to be a specific business scenario/requirement and explain with sufficient detail how the suggested NoSQL database is providing the solution for the business requirement/s. At least 500 words should describe an application for each NoSQL type. (2x4 marks – 2 for each type)
