Resolve Amazon Root MFA Issue

Job ID: 40062732

Budget: $10 – $30 AUD

I have been locked out of my Amazon (AWS) root account for four days because the multifactor authentication code is never accepted. At the moment I can only get in through a read-only user, which means I cannot manage billing, users, or anything critical.

Here’s what I know so far
• The system keeps sending a code to my email, but the sign-in page refuses it every time.
• I’m honestly not sure whether the MFA device is synced or even set up correctly—my IT skills are limited.
• Amazon support keeps looping me through automated answers, so no human has reviewed the case.

What I need from you
Identify why the MFA challenge is failing, reset or re-associate a working MFA method (app, SMS, or hardware key—whatever you recommend), and get me back into the root account. I’m happy to jump on a screenshare or provide any verification Amazon requests, but I want the final result to be a clean login process I can reproduce on my own.

Acceptance criteria
1. I log in as root on a live call with you, using the new MFA method.
2. You show me how to change or disable MFA in the future if needed.
3. No service interruptions or data loss occur during the fix.

If you have handled similar AWS root lockouts before, please let me know your approach and typical turnaround time.
