Archive Scanning & Digitizing : Berkeley Library
Budget: $250 – $350 USD
I am looking a local freelancer who lives near to or lives in Berkeley, California in the United States of America, to go in person
to the Graduate Theological Union Library, 2400 Ridge Road, Berkeley, CA 94709. This
library is open to the public so no library membership card is needed to go into it.
The freelancer will physically access 2 books which are out of copyright and in the public domain. These books have not been digitised and are not online so cannot be found by an online search.
The freelancer will scan the entirety of both books in the PDF Format. The books have 126 and 80 pages plus the front and back covers. So 210 pages in total to be scanned. The library does not charge for the scans. Also the library does not provide PDF editing software. The scan will need to be checked to ensure that there are no missing pages.
A public domain verification document is provided here on the freelancer.com website under the Files tab, for the freelancer to download in order to prove that the books are out of copyright and in the public domain and can therefore be scanned in their entirety. Though it is highly unlikely that the freelancer will be asked to show this document, it should be taken to the library just in case proof of public domain status is asked for by a librarian.
The scans will need to be checked for viruses and malware by using the free check at website https://metadefender.com. This involves uploading the file and then running the scan. Due to the likely size of the PDF documents the researcher may need to compress each PDF. The researcher will then email the scans to the person who is posting this job.

(2) be able to upload the scans and check the scans are not infected with any virus or malware by using the following website https://metadefender.com for a free scan of the documents (3) be able to take a screenshot of each scan result to prove the scans were checked (4) be able to compress the file if this is needed to send it by email (5) be able to send the scanned and checked documents via email.
