Quick Structural Analysis Consultation
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I need a structural engineer who can walk me through a few fundamental checks on a very small steel-based concept. The focus is consultation, not a full set of drawings, so I’m after clear, concise guidance rather than a lengthy report.
Here’s what I want to cover:
• Confirm dead, live, and any point load figures I already have.
• Walk me through bending-moment and shear-force verification for a single, simply supported beam.
• Run a quick stability sanity-check on the overall concept and highlight anything I may be overlooking.
• Offer a brief comment on whether my choice of steel remains sensible once the numbers are verified (I’m open to hearing if a hybrid or alternate grade would be smarter).
You’re free to use whichever mainstream analysis package you prefer—STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, or even a hand-calc spreadsheet—so long as the logic is transparent and can be referenced to a recognised code. I haven’t locked in a specific code yet; ACI, Eurocode, or the relevant IS provision are all acceptable so feel free to use whichever aligns best with your workflow.
Deliverable: a short, 1–2 page summary (PDF) capturing the inputs, key calculations or screenshots, your commentary on stability, and any recommendations going forward.
This is a quick task, so please tell me how soon you can review the numbers, chat through any red flags, and send the brief report.
