Laser Printer Driver Limit Bypass

Job ID: 39922975

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

Summary

Looking for a hands-on freelancer with access to a laser printer whose driver enforces a hard maximum page length (≈350 mm or similar). Your mission: demonstrate and document a method to print longer sheets (target 110 × 520 mm) by bypassing or working around that driver limit, and provide proof it works on a printer whose driver normally blocks longer sizes.

This is a practical test — you must run experiments on your own hardware and deliver photos, logs and reusable files/commands.

Required skills & equipment

Must have access to a laser printer whose driver GUI reports/limits maximum paper length (i.e., not a printer that already supports banner/long-sheet natively).

Strong experience with PCL and/or PostScript, raw print streams and Windows print spooler behavior.

Comfortable sending raw print jobs (USB/NIC) and producing/editing PCL/PS files or equivalent.

Ability to capture evidence (photos/scans) and produce clear technical documentation.

---

Tasks & deliverables

1. Confirm the printer driver enforces a length limit (include a screenshot of the driver showing the limit).

2. Develop and demonstrate a method to print a sheet of 110 mm × 520 mm (or explain why it cannot be done on that hardware). Possible approaches: raw PCL/PS stream, printer escape sequences, print-to-file trick, or driver/registry tweaks.
