Prepare Overdue C-Corp Tax Returns
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
My C Corporation has fallen behind on its federal filings and I need an experienced corporate-tax professional to bring us current. We have three to five years of Form 1120 returns that must be reconstructed, prepared, and filed in full compliance with IRS regulations.
You will receive bank statements, prior-year returns, and a mix of invoices and receipts. The information is only somewhat organized, so part of the engagement will involve validating totals, locating gaps, and advising me on any additional documentation the IRS will expect.
Key objectives
• Rebuild the financial picture for each missing year, ensuring every allowable deduction and credit is captured.
• Draft and file all outstanding returns, including any required schedules, statements, and disclosures.
• Calculate and minimize potential penalties and interest while keeping communication with the IRS clean and timely.
• Deliver a short post-filing memo outlining findings, risks spotted, and practical steps I should follow to stay compliant going forward.
Acceptance criteria
• Confirmed e-filing or certified-mail proof of submission for every year.
• Workpapers that tie each return back to source documents.
• A clear audit trail I can hand to future accountants or IRS agents if questions arise.
I would strongly prefer a licensed CPA or tax attorney who has handled multi-year corporate catch-ups before and is fluent with IRS transcript requests, reasonable-cause letters, and penalty-abatement strategies. If that sounds like your wheelhouse, let’s discuss your approach and expected timeline.
