Cross-Border Tax Recovery Strategy
Budget: $15 – $25 CAD
I need a seasoned cross-border tax professional to dig through both my Canadian and Mexican filings, identify all I may have overpaid, and help me claim it back. I am a dual citizen with income and assets on each side of the border, as well as investment losses, so this is a combined personal-and-business engagement.
Scope
• Look back up to five years of returns already filed with the CRA and SAT, flagging any credits, deductions, or treaty positions I missed.
• Draft and submit all adjustment requests or amended returns needed to recover those amounts.
• Advise on setting up a new Canadian corporation for my consulting work and model the most tax-efficient way to flow profits between that company, myself, and future Mexican holdings.
• Evaluate a potential business acquisition in Mexico, including preferred share vs. asset purchase structures and the interplay of GST/HST, IVA, and withholding rules.
• Map out how to leverage my real-estate equity in both countries—through mortgages or refinancing—while minimising cross-border tax drag on any resulting cash flow.
Deliverables will be the amended filings or adjustment letters, a concise written strategy memo, and a live walk-through call so I can move forward confidently.
If you are comfortable juggling CRA forms, SAT annexes, the Canada-Mexico tax treaty, and practical corporate structuring, let’s talk.
