Non-Profit QuickBooks Online Setup
Budget: $2 – $8 USD
I run a small non-profit that has operated for four years without any formal bookkeeping, and I’m finally ready to keep everything in order inside QuickBooks Online. I will be starting from scratch—there are no electronic or paper records to import—so this project is about building a clean, compliant system we can rely on going forward.
Here is what I need:
• Create a fresh, non-profit friendly chart of accounts that captures our programs, fundraising activities, and administrative costs in a way that satisfies typical grant and 990 reporting requirements.
• Enter day-to-day transactions as they occur and classify them correctly, including donations, program expenses, payroll entries (processed externally), and reimbursements.
• Produce clear monthly financial statements—primarily a Statement of Financial Position and a Statement of Activities—so the board always knows where we stand.
I already have a QuickBooks Online subscription waiting, so access can be granted immediately. Please let me know your proposed approach for the initial setup, your experience with non-profits, and how you keep communication straightforward for someone who is new to formal bookkeeping.
