Teach Me Small-Biz Bookkeeping

I’m launching a small business and want to handle my books confidently instead of outsourcing them. I need a dependable, patient accountant who enjoys teaching absolute beginners and can work with me in QuickBooks.

What I’d like you to do for me
• Set up a simple, easy-to-maintain QuickBooks file—chart of accounts, banking feeds, and basic templates—so it matches my business structure from day one.
• Walk me through everyday tasks: recording income and expenses, categorising each transaction correctly, and keeping source documents organised.
• Show me how to stay tax-ready—setting aside sales tax where required, tracking deductible expenses, and generating the standard reports my CPA (or you, if you offer tax prep) will need.
• Meet for a review about once a month to check my entries, fix mistakes together, and answer any questions that pop up. Frequency can shift to “as needed” once I feel comfortable.

The ideal fit
You know QuickBooks inside out, explain concepts in plain English, and don’t mind repeating steps until they stick. Experience preparing US small-business taxes is a big plus, because I’d like the same person to file when the time comes.

Deliverables I expect
1. A fully functional QuickBooks setup tailored to my business.
2. Written or video mini-guides for the key workflows we cover, so I can reference them later.
3. Ongoing monthly check-ins (remote is fine) with clear action items to keep me on track.
4. Optional: year-end tax preparation once the books are tidy.
