Position Summary
B4Q Assurance CPA PC is seeking a qualified Washington-licensed Certified Public Accountant to provide remote accounting, assurance, taxation, compliance and advisory support on a freelance basis.
The CPA will assist with client engagements, review financial and supporting records, prepare professional workpapers, participate in virtual client meetings and support the firm’s quality-management and regulatory-compliance processes.
This is an independent-contractor engagement. Work will be assigned according to client requirements, and no minimum number of hours or assignments is guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities
• Review financial statements, general ledgers, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
• Assist with audit, review, compilation and agreed-upon procedures engagements.
• Prepare and review engagement workpapers in accordance with firm procedures.
• Support federal and state tax-return preparation and tax-compliance assignments.
• Assist with SOC 1, SOC 2, internal-control and compliance engagements.
• Perform analytical procedures, sampling, testing and documentation review.
• Identify accounting, internal-control, reporting and compliance issues.
• Prepare client queries, adjustment schedules and engagement summaries.
• Participate in virtual meetings with clients and the B4Q Assurance team.
• Review bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
• Assist with financial reporting under applicable accounting frameworks.
• Support risk assessments and internal-control evaluations.
• Maintain accurate timesheets, invoices and assignment records.
• Complete work within agreed deadlines and budgets.
• Protect confidential client and firm information.
• Follow professional ethics, independence and information-security requirements.
• Maintain an active CPA licence and required continuing professional education.
• Promptly disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest.
• Cooperate with internal quality reviews, engagement reviews and corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
• Active and unrestricted Washington State CPA licence.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• Practical experience in public accounting, taxation, assurance or financial reporting.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and applicable professional standards.
• Ability to prepare clear, complete and review-ready workpapers.
• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, accounting software and electronic document systems.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Reliable internet connection and availability for virtual meetings.
• Good professional standing with no undisclosed disciplinary restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with audit, review and compilation engagements.
• Experience with SOC 1 or SOC 2 examinations.
• Knowledge of internal controls and risk assessment.
• Experience with federal and state business taxation.
• Familiarity with CPA-firm quality-management requirements.
• Experience working with small and medium-sized businesses.
