Role Overview
The ITR & Data Entry Specialist acts as a quality gatekeeper for financial and tax-related records. You will be responsible for transcribing financial data from source documents into tax preparation software, verifying accuracy, and ensuring all filings meet strict regulatory standards. This role requires a high degree of confidentiality, analytical thinking, and proficiency in digital data management.
Key Responsibilities
Data Transcription: Accurately input financial figures, client details, and income statements into tax software and internal databases.
Document Verification: Cross-reference information against source documents (invoices, bank statements, receipts) to detect discrepancies or missing data.
ITR Preparation Support: Assist in the preparation of Income Tax Returns by organizing client files, calculating totals, and flagging errors for review by senior accountants or tax consultants.
Compliance Monitoring: Stay updated on current tax regulations to ensure all entries and filings comply with local tax laws.
Data Integrity & Security: Implement strict security measures to protect sensitive taxpayer information, adhering to data privacy policies.
Reporting: Generate reports based on processed data to assist the team in audits or tax planning advisory services.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (or Google Sheets) and familiarity with specialized tax preparation or accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
Typing Speed & Accuracy: Exceptional keyboarding skills with a focus on error-free input (typically 40–60+ WPM).
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to reviewing fine details such as punctuation, formatting, and numerical consistency.
Financial Literacy: Basic understanding of arithmetic, tax terminology, and financial documentation.
Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize multiple client files during peak tax seasons and meet strict filing deadlines.
