External Chief Legal Officer for Tech Ventures

LEGAL COUNSEL (EXTERNAL CLO) - GLOBAL E-COMMERCE & TECHNOLOGY VENTURES
We're seeking an experienced legal professional to serve as our external Chief Legal Officer across a portfolio of international e-commerce and technology ventures. This is a strategic advisory role with the opportunity to build a long-term partnership with a growing organization.
ABOUT US:
We operate multiple ventures spanning e-commerce operations, B2B SaaS platforms, and innovation ecosystem infrastructure. Our operations are primarily focused on US and EU markets (with strong Netherlands presence), supported by international teams in Egypt and India. We're building global technology and e-commerce businesses and need sophisticated legal counsel to support our growth trajectory.
THE ROLE:
You will serve as our primary legal advisor and strategic partner. Whether you're an independent practitioner or lead a legal services firm, you should be capable of handling complex legal matters directly while having the network and resources to engage specialists when required. This is not a transactional relationship - we're looking for someone who can serve as our trusted General Counsel.
IMMEDIATE PRIORITIES:
* Debt collection (US-based matter, requires immediate attention)
* Additional outstanding collection matters
* Corporate restructuring and entity optimization
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Critical Practice Areas:
* Contract law: drafting, negotiation, and review for e-commerce and SaaS operations
* Intellectual property: strategy, protection, licensing for technology ventures
* Tax law: international structuring and cross-border optimization
* Debt collection and commercial enforcement
Ongoing Legal Operations:
* Employment and contractor agreements (international workforce)
* Corporate governance and compliance frameworks
* Cross-border transaction structuring
* Data privacy and GDPR compliance (e-commerce operations)
* Platform and marketplace regulatory compliance
Strategic Advisory:
* Business expansion legal strategy
* E-commerce regulatory landscape (multi-jurisdiction)
* Technology and SaaS legal infrastructure
* Emerging technology regulations (AI, blockchain/Web3)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* 7+ years of broad commercial law experience, ideally in-house or as external counsel
* Demonstrated expertise in debt collection and enforcement (particularly US)
* Proven track record in contract law, intellectual property, and tax matters
* E-commerce and/or technology sector experience essential
* Multi-jurisdictional practice experience (EU/US operations)
* International employment law knowledge for cross-border teams
IDEAL PROFILE:
* Strategic thinker who can serve as business partner, not just legal executor
* Deep understanding of e-commerce business models and technology ventures
* Experience scaling legal operations with growing companies
* Network to engage subject matter experts when needed (or lead firm with specialized capabilities)
* Pragmatic, commercially-minded approach to legal challenges
* Comfortable advising distributed, international organizations
* Strong knowledge of Dutch law highly valued
* Fluent in English (Dutch proficiency is an advantage)
