Scalable Portfolio Finance Dashboard

Job ID: 40105421

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m looking to consolidate messy project-level cost exports into a single, polished BI experience that can roll up instantly to portfolio metrics. Tableau or Power BI is my chosen stack, so the work starts with a solid data model that separates inputs, logic, and outputs and ends with an executive-friendly set of visuals I can refresh once a month.

The data I receive today is inconsistent—different column orders, naming conventions, and occasionally missing fields. To keep everything sustainable, I’ll need a standardized input template that any project analyst can paste into, triggering the underlying calculations without breaking formulas or visuals. Once in place, the dashboard must support simple role-based access control, so I can grant full edit rights to Admins while limiting most users to view-only.

Deliverables
• Robust data model ready for Tableau or Power BI, clearly documenting how raw inputs flow into KPI calculations.
• Excel/CSV input template that normalizes the various source exports.
• Project-level pages: budget vs. forecast, actuals to date, open commitments, variance and burn-rate indicators.
• Portfolio-level pages: aggregate budget, forecast vs. budget, variance trends over time, and a quick view of the top over- and under-performing projects.
• Clean, presentation-ready visuals formatted for monthly steering-committee decks.
• Basic role-based permissions configured (Admin vs. Viewer).

Acceptance Criteria
• A sample data refresh using the template succeeds with no manual tweaks.
• All visuals update automatically and reflect the correct monthly snapshot.
• Admin role can edit data sources and calculations; Viewer role is restricted to interactive viewing only.

If you’ve built financial or PMO dashboards in Tableau or Power BI before and can think through both the data architecture and the story the numbers need to tell, I’d love to see your approach and timeline.
