Customer Analytics Dashboard Creation
Budget: $12 – $30 SGD
Tableau Dashboard (Customers) — Sets, Parameters, LOD Expressions (Sample Superstore)
Project Overview
I need a Tableau dashboard built from Sample - Superstore.xls focusing on Customer analytics using Sets, Parameters, and Level of Detail (LOD) expressions. The dashboard is called “Dashboard C — Customers” and must include 4 specific visual requirements (C1–C4).
Data
Source file: Sample - Superstore.xls (I will provide / you can assume standard Tableau Superstore fields: Order Date, Sales, Customer Name, Region, Sub-Category, etc.)
Required Deliverables
1 Tableau packaged workbook (.twbx) with:
A dashboard named “Dashboard C — Customers”
All calculations (Sets/Parameters/LODs) created cleanly and documented (calc names + short comments)
If any assumptions are made, list them in a short notes section inside the workbook (e.g., a “Read Me” worksheet).
Dashboard Requirements (Must-Have)
C1 (Top N Customers % of Total Sales)
Create a visualization (Pareto chart or running total bar is fine) showing what % of Total Sales is contributed by the Top N Customers.
Must include a parameter for N
Should display both:
cumulative % line (or running %)
bars by customer sales (or equivalent)
Must clearly show the % contributed by Top N.
C2 (Customer Lifespan / Gantt)
Create a generic “Customer Lifespan” chart:
Rows: Top N Customer Names (use same or separate parameter for N)
Use Gantt bar (or similar) to show time from First Order Date → Last Order Date
Color the bar by total count of orders (number of orders per customer)
C3 (Sub-Category condition using Top K customers + Region)
Create a bar chart identifying the Sub-Category(ies) where this condition is true:
For a given Sub-Category and within the same Region:
the Top K customers’ Sales on that Sub-Category exceed their combined Sales on all other Sub-Categories.
Requirements:
Must use a parameter for K (e.g., default 20)
Must work by Region (Region is part of the logic)
I expect LOD expressions and/or sets here (not just quick filters)
Output should clearly show which sub-categories meet the condition (and ideally by region or with region filter).
C4 (Retention: older vs new customers, Sales per Year)
Create a stacked bar chart showing Total Sales per Year, split to answer:
“How much sales are we retaining from older customers vs. new ones?”
Define “New customer” vs “Older customer” based on customer’s first purchase year (or first order date relative to the year being shown)
Make the definition clear in the workbook (calculation naming / notes)
Stacked bar by Year: New vs Returning/Existing
Interactivity / Dashboard Expectations
Parameters: N (Top Customers) and K (Top K customers) must be easy to change on the dashboard.
Filters: at minimum include Region (and optionally Year/Segment if useful).
Clean layout with titles, legends, and tooltips that explain what’s being shown.
What I’m Looking For
Please apply only if you are comfortable with:
Tableau Sets
Parameters
LOD Expressions (FIXED/INCLUDE/EXCLUDE)
Building “Top N” logic properly (not just sorting & filtering)
When You Apply, Include
1–2 examples of Tableau work (screenshots or portfolio link)
A short note describing how you would approach C3 (Top K vs all other sub-categories in same region)
Your Tableau version (e.g., 2021+, 2022+, etc.)
Acceptance Checklist
I will mark it complete when:
All four requirements (C1–C4) are present and correct
Parameters work (N and K)
Logic for C3 matches the definition
Workbook opens without missing data connections and calculations are understandable
