Sysadmin for Windows, Linux Virtual Environments

Job ID: 39865698

Budget: €6 – €12 EUR

French speaking!

I need hands-on help keeping a mixed estate of Windows servers, Linux machines and a VMware vSphere cluster running smoothly. Day to day work revolves around three pillars: continuous surveillance and preventive maintenance, tight control over users and their permissions, and fine-tuning of network parameters so traffic flows efficiently between physical and virtual hosts.

Automation and visibility are already in place; I rely on Ansible for repeatable configuration, Nagios for alerts and dashboards, and native VMware tooling for the hypervisor layer. You will be expected to work directly with these tools rather than introducing new ones unless a clear benefit is demonstrated.

Key deliverables
• A fully documented set of Ansible playbooks and inventories reflecting the current estate
• Clean Nagios dashboards with actionable alert thresholds and zero noisy false positives
• Monthly health report covering patch levels, resource utilisation trends, network latency metrics and any remedial actions taken
• Updated privilege matrix showing every active account, its scope and the justification behind it
• Network optimisation changes applied and benchmarked, with before/after statistics

Acceptance criteria
– No critical or warning alerts unresolved for more than 24 hours
– All servers patched within the agreed maintenance window without unplanned downtime
– User access requests fulfilled or revoked within agreed SLA, backed by change tickets
– Measurable reduction in average network latency across key VLANs by the second reporting cycle

Everything is accessible remotely via VPN; I will provide the necessary credentials and existing documentation on kickoff.
